Celebrating National Marriage Week by creating a special date night with your spouse!
Every year, right before Valentine’s Day, there is a week called “National Marriage Week.” This time is all about celebrating and strengthening marriages.
The theme for 2023 is “The Value of Date Nights.” According to the National Marriage Project and the Wheatley Institute, only about half of couples go on frequent date nights even though the research shows that husbands and wives who have regular date nights are more likely to be happily married.
This year, you and your spouse can be a part of this national celebration by setting aside a special date night out on the town or in the comfort of your own home. The “Couples Connection Plan” can make your special date night deep and meaningful. It is a downloadable document for couples where they can find greater connection and meaning in their marriage by reflecting on the past year together, writing down marriage goals, and going over connecting questions together.
What a great time in our nation to be able to encourage, build up hope, and reignite the priority of the marriage relationship between husbands and wives as part of the leadership team of our families! The social sciences highlight that married couples have greater health, financial stability, and personal happiness.
This year, the Marriage Initiative team from San Antonio was brought on to serve the mission of National Marriage Week. The Marriage Initiative team feels that National Marriage Week is a positive movement that unites both those who are passionate about marriage in their local communities, as well as churches and National Marriage Leaders who do marriage research, write, and speak into couples and marriages.
The tools and resources provided by National Marriage Week USA offer are invaluable:
- Add marriage or date night events to the free National Calendar of Marriage Events. The events calendar can then be filtered by state or month to show only those events that are taking place nearby.
- A toolkit with resources available to use
- A list of trusted marriage-building resources, including best-selling books by national marriage leaders.
- Ideas for how to promote and strengthen marriage in your local community.
As Carl Caton, President of Marriage Initiative and Managing Director of National Marriage Week USA says, “Marriage is more than a romantic notion. Marriage is the family leadership team, the central bond of every family. Marriage is good for us, and it is good for America.”
