KHCB Donor Development Director
Location: Houston, TX
Reports to: KHCB President and Senior Operating Leader

 

Position Overview:

KHCB is seeking a visionary Donor Development Director to lead and execute strategic donor engagement, retention, and fundraising initiatives. The role involves cultivating major donors, guiding donor strategy, and applying innovative tools and biblical principles to strengthen financial support.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee donor communications and appeal strategies
  • Build donor segmentation and engagement systems
  • Cultivate relationships with major donors (50% of role)
  • Lead pledge drives, reports, donor CRM, and compliance
  • Provide leadership in vision, mentoring, and technology use

Qualifications:

  • Strong Christian faith and alignment with KHCB’s mission
  • 5–7 years of donor development experience
  • Excellent writing, CRM, and leadership skills

Ministry Overview:

KHCB Radio has been serving the Greater Houston area for decades as a listener-supported Christian radio station, providing biblically-based teaching, worship music, and community-focused programming. Broadcasting on multiple frequencies including 105.7 FM and 1400 AM in Houston, KHCB also reaches 20 markets across Texas plus Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. KHCB is committed to sharing the Gospel and encouraging believers through quality Christian content that inspires, equips, and connects communities to Christ.

 

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing, branding, and promotional strategies that grow listenership, strengthen engagement, support donor development, and amplify KHCB's brand presence—both on-air and across digital platforms. This role requires a strategic leader with marketing expertise who is passionate about Christian ministry and media and can inspire both internal teams and external partners to support KHCB's vision and outreach. This position operates during standard business hours with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend events.

 

Ministry Responsibilities

 

Strategic Ministry Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with KHCB's mission, values, and growth goals that advances Gospel outreach
  • Maintain and enhance KHCB's brand identity across all platforms and touchpoints, ensuring consistent messaging across all of KHCB Media Group
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with programming, operations, and donor development teams to maximize ministry impact and organizational effectiveness
  • Provide visionary leadership that inspires internal teams and external partners to support KHCB's mission of proclaiming the Gospel and discipling believers

Core Ministry Responsibilities

  • Create and execute campaigns to increase listenership, digital streaming, and social media following that expand KHCB's Gospel reach
  • Analyze audience data, market trends, and listener feedback to refine marketing efforts and improve ministry effectiveness
  • Plan and promote on-air and off-air promotions, giveaways, and community outreach events that engage audiences and strengthen community connections
  • Oversee the Director of Community Engagement to build strong relationships with local churches, ministries, nonprofits, and community organizations
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Donor Development to support on-air fundraising drives, donor development campaigns, and develop marketing materials that increase donor engagement and giving
  • Coordinate promotional efforts for pledge drives and special campaigns that support KHCB's listener-supported ministry model

Operational Ministry Support

  • Work with the Director of Digital Media to oversee website content, email marketing, social media, and digital advertising
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Programming to create consistent, engaging content and promotions
  • Manage online reputation and ensure timely, positive communication with the audience
  • Plan and execute paid advertising campaigns across radio, digital, print, and outdoor media
  • Develop promotional partnerships with local businesses and sponsors that align with ministry values
  • Oversee the creation of promotional materials and branded merchandise
  • Lead, mentor, and manage marketing and community engagement team members
  • Manage marketing budgets and allocate resources efficiently to maximize ministry stewardship

  • Live a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles and Christian values

Selected individual must be enthusiastic about working in an evangelical Christian non-profit and non-smoking work environment. Employee will be required to sign and adhere to KHCB's Employee Statement of Faith and Conduct. Employee may occasionally be required to discuss matters of faith or religion with listeners who contact the station.

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience

  • 10+ years of marketing experience, preferably in media, broadcasting, nonprofit, or ministry settings
  • Demonstrated success in brand growth, audience development, and campaign management
  • Proven leadership experience managing marketing teams and cross-functional collaboration

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content strategy
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and data interpretation
  • Experience with advertising platforms across radio, digital, print, and outdoor media

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate computer equipment and office tools

  • Travel required to local churches, community events, and partner organizations (estimated 10-20% local travel)
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability for events and community outreach activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience in Christian media, broadcasting, or faith-based nonprofit organizations
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising campaign support
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) to serve Houston's diverse community
