Using scripture to heal the hurt, strengthen the spirit and shift your perspective back to God’s will.
Most people in the world today have experienced trauma or a painful experience at some point in their lives. What sets some apart from others has everything to do with how they react to the negative influence on their lives. Statistics show that 60% of men and 50% of women are affected by PTSD with increasing numbers! That’s a lot of people trying to figure out how to heal and function in a healthy way. Speaking from experience, the only way to have long term, lasting triumph over trauma induced symptoms and thoughts is summed up with a resounding, God the Father!
One of the first places to start is to remember that we have the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, and that it will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7 NLT). Because of that, we don’t have to stay stuck and hurting or allow our memories and thoughts to hold us captive anymore. Instead, we need to exercise 2 Corinthians 10:5 by taking our thoughts captive, and surrendering them to the Lord! The result of affirming what God the Father says about you instead of what the world says about you is one of the many continued actions that helps us heal! Taking ashes and turning them into beauty is more than possible and it’s easily achieved when you stop trying to walk in this world alone, bearing the weight by yourself.
In John 14:6, Jesus states that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Him. This truth is the very key to success! If we allow God to transform us into a new person by changing the way we think and pursue God’s pleasing and perfect will for our lives (Roman’s 12:2 NLT), we are able to set that baggage from those hurts and traumas down. Whoever thought you would gain more control over your life by surrendering your control to the Lord and letting Him lead and have His way with you and your walk? The result is that peace that surpasses all understanding! And peace walks hand in hand with healing.
The Bible is chalked full of truths about Jesus restoring health, happiness, and humanity in many different ways. Times may have changed, but Jesus remains the same. He still wants to have that relationship with you and the ability to help you heal!
- He wants to set you on solid ground so you can shine your light of love and spiritual knowledge out for others, encouraging them to a better way of life, to inherit a freedom like the one you’ve experienced!
- He wants you to become the leader He truly made you to be, showing others that the mountain in front of you can be traversed!
- He has made you strong and resilient and loving! Don’t listen to the labels the world puts on you. Instead, shift your thoughts to what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8 NLT)
- No matter what, never stop chasing after Jesus! Joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. (Psalm 146:5 NLT)
Remember you’re not broken, you’re not alone, and not forgotten. Our God sees you and is walking with you every step of the way! He has placed solid Bible believing Christians around you and they are a great place to find support, there are many churches and faith based recovery groups to help you on your journey as well. If you ask Him, He will guide your steps according to His plan for you. He is the LIGHT in the darkness!
