When life feels difficult, it’s easy to want a quick escape. But what if the trial you’re facing is actually an assignment from God? The TOUGH acrostic offers a faith-filled framework to help you navigate hardship by trusting God, glorifying Him, staying connected to others, speaking encouragement, and standing firm on His love.
T – Turn Trials into Trust in God’s Plan
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NIV)
O – Open Eyes to God’s Glory
“Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” (Exodus 15:11)
U – Unite with the Body of Christ
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)
G – Give Compliments, Not Criticism
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
H – Hold Fast to God’s Love as Your Foundation
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power… to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.” (Ephesians 3:17–18)
God, help me to trust you as I navigate the complicated twists and turns life brings. Please help me to open my eyes to your plan and lean on the body of Christ as I move forward with grace for myself and others. Help me to hold fast to your love and remain rooted in the truth of your word.
Amen.
