God is capable of handling your worst-case scenario, and He is ready to walk through today with you.

I’m constantly thinking ahead, sifting through mental lists, creating physical lists, checking off boxes, worrying about what might go wrong, and noticing what isn’t working and what could be better. I feel pressure to perform, succeed, and stay in control. As if my ability to prepare, anticipate, and accomplish will prevent the worst-case scenario from unfolding.

My mind always feels full and rarely feels settled. Honestly, it’s exhausting just saying it (or typing it). On most days, I don’t even realize this is how I tend to live my life.

When I unwind my anxious thoughts, my desire for control, or the pressure to keep everything together, I find that what I’m really after—what I’m ultimately missing—is peace. The Bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

We are meant to take everything and talk to God about it. When we do, God promises that we will receive peace, even when it doesn’t make sense. We don’t have to keep trying to control our lives or stay chained to worry. God has more for us, He wants to experience peace—His perfect peace.

Isaiah 26:3 says, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

When worry threatens to overcome you, or when you feel overwhelmed and burdened by the tasks in front of you, remember that God is trustworthy.

He is capable of handling your worst-case scenario, and He is ready to walk through today with you.

Let Isaiah 26:3 play on repeat in your mind. Then, tell yourself who God is:

• He is good. (Exodus 34:6)
• He is powerful and wise. (Psalm 147:4-5)
• He is our creator and sustainer. (Isaiah 40:28-31)
• He is faithful. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
• He is loving. (1 John 4:16)
• He is with you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Father, help me keep my thoughts fixed on you today. Here is everything I’m concerned about or worried about….Please, fill me with your perfect peace. I love you, and I trust you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
